Demat of Physical Shares

Convert paper share certificates into electronic shares in your demat account, safely and correctly.

Shares of listed companies held on paper can no longer be sold or transferred on the stock exchange until they are converted into electronic (demat) form. Dematerialisation looks simple, but requests are often rejected over small details, such as a name spelled differently or a signature that doesn't match. We prepare everything carefully so your request goes through as smoothly as possible.

Who is this for?

This service is for you if…

  • You hold physical share certificates and want to sell them
  • Your earlier demat request was rejected by the RTA
  • The name on your certificate differs slightly from your demat account
  • You are a senior citizen and want someone to handle the whole process
Common problems we solve

Where cases usually get stuck

  • Opening or choosing the right demat account (holder names in the same order as on the certificate)
  • Filling the Dematerialisation Request Form (DRF) correctly
  • Rejections due to name, signature or KYC mismatch
  • Certificates held in joint names, or where one holder has passed away
  • Tracking the request between your Depository Participant (DP) and the RTA
Documents usually required

Your document checklist

  • Original physical share certificates
  • Demat account in the same name(s) and order as on the certificate
  • Dematerialisation Request Form (DRF) from your DP
  • PAN, Aadhaar and address proof
  • KYC update forms for the RTA, if your folio KYC is incomplete
  • Banker's attestation of signature, if your signature has changed

This is a general list and may vary by case, company and RTA. We'll give you an exact checklist after reviewing your documents.

How we help

What we do, step by step

  1. 1

    Check the folio

We confirm the certificates are valid, the KYC is complete and the names match your demat account.

  2. 2

    Fix mismatches first

If names or signatures don't match, we sort that out before the demat request, to avoid rejection.

  3. 3

    File the DRF

We prepare the DRF and guide you in submitting it with the certificates to your DP.

  4. 4

    Follow up

We follow up with the DP and RTA until the shares appear in your demat account.

FAQs

Questions about Demat Services

For listed companies, no. Since April 2019, shares of listed companies can be transferred only in demat form (transmission to legal heirs and transposition are exceptions). So to sell, you first need to dematerialise them.
